Kurt looked worse than Goff in his time with New York. He was scared and seeing ghosts. It's amazing what happens when you have bad line play.
I wouldn't say it was because he was seeing ghosts. He was holding the ball too long trying to make plays. It was a bad line though and they were saying that at the time. (I once discussed the Warner benching in NY and pulled up NY articles from the time which all stressed how poor the OL play was).
Some people mistakenly say Kurt played well in NYG, but that's actually pretty inaccurate. He did at first but then he went south.
In the 4 games before he was benched, they went 1-3 and he threw 3 TDs, 3 INTs, and fumbled 6 times, along with taking 24 sacks (yes 24 in 4 games).
Not to mention they essentially had no WR corps. Shockey was the best they had and at that point, he was inconsistent at best. Toomer was barely healthy enough to get on the field and the only real threat they had through the air was Barber out of the backfield. Granted, he was spectacular at that stage but between Warner's fumbling, shaky o-line and nowhere to go with the ball, there really wasn't much of an opportunity for Warner to put up numbers.
But primarily, I'd say it was Warner's thumb that was the biggest problem. It just continue to hamper him ever since that Washington game with the Rams. He couldn't grip the ball to throw with any control and velocity and whether it was the Rams, Giants or Cardinals, he struggled with gripping the ball until he donned the diamond handler gloves in '06.
My point being, had Warner discovered them any time along the line, he would have been a lot better. Even with the Giants.
