its hard for me to blame McVay
again Goff is not Tua they shouldn't have to do that every single week for him
if you do it because the opponent warrants it because of their front then so be it but sometimes the game plan is to attack a defense and the Qb has to hold the ball and play from the pocket
what it is becoming clear is he just not dynamic enough athletically and clear mentally just not remotely on the level of a lot of his peers
Something else I've been thinking about is when Goff is actually hit. His hands haven't been much of a problem but he also doesn't take a lot of hits in general. He took a couple of solid hits today and coughed it up both times. It's understandable but just because you're hit, doesn't mean you should be fumbling the ball away.
Goff is just a mess right now. He isn't accurate with his passes, doesn't seem to sense pressure well, seems locked on Kupp and struggle with anything that isn't in rhythm. I really thought after some rough lessons last year that Goff's game would "slow down" but it seems to have actually sped up. That is very concerning at this stage of his career. He's getting decent protection and a respectable running game from the rest of the offense but he is struggling to actually produce TD's and not turn the ball over.
Not sure what the answer is. Goff is clearly not the next Manning or elite QB and what's most disheartening about the whole thing is just how poorly the Rams have handled contracts and acquisitions.
