I remember a Rams Kicker David Ray who was a BU WR and made some GW and Game Tying FGs in the early 70s. Jim O Brien a BU WR on the Colts was their Kicker in 1970 when he Kicked the GW FG to beat the Cowboys in the SB. The SB called the blunder bowl because there was so many turnovers. Anyhow there is the old NFL Stories again lol ! GO RAMS !
Funny how kickers back then did play other positions, David Ray had an excellent year from kicker standards back then in 1973, but missed three field goals in the playoffs against the Cowboys that led to the Ram demise. He was replaced in 1974 by Tom Dempsey, who I thought would be an upgrade, but Dempsey had a few kicks blocked in the playoffs, that hurt the Rams. Then came Rafael Septién in 1977, who like Sloman kicked the ball low and had some blocked, however, Rafael Septién went on to have an excellent career with Dallas until his legal troubles.
