protect their draft capital

I'm good with this team as is. Ride what you have.

Last year the Rams picked 20th overall in the order and had the 52nd (selecting Akers) and then 57th (via Cooks trade, taking Jefferson) picks in the 2nd round. And then picked 84th (T. Lewis) in the 3rd.

Next April the Rams might not pick at all until 56th or later. They will get 3rd and 4th round comp. picks but the Draft will be more difficult next year for them. Keep the Draft capital they have and the flexibility to move around a bit as needed. Trading away their 3rd or even 6th for a short-term rental would not be good.
