"how man screens did the Rams run? How many throws to the Rbs?" My assumption is the Rams analyzed what the 49ers were doing on defense and picked plays that they thought would be successful. If the D is designed to take away screens and passes to the RBs I would not want the offense to run plays directly into the teeth of that defense. Instead, I would want them to identify the soft spots in the defense and try to take advantage of them.
And I'm not saying that I know that's the answer. But I hope with all I have that it is.
edit: elsewhere in this thread Merlin said he'd take a look at the all 22 and see what was available. I'm looking forward to that analysis - it will surely help us understand what was going on.
