What about all the higher draft picks over the past 3 years?
We drafted 8 guys in the first 4 rounds in 2018-2019
Taylor Rapp
Darrell Henderson
David Long
Bobby Evans
Greg Gaines
Joseph Noteboom
Brian Allen
John Franklin-Myers
Outside of Henderson none of them are playing well enough to get excited about at all this year. Heck, JFM looks like the best of them and we cut him. Right now, outside of maybe Henderson, those guys look like a bunch of JAGs or in the case of Allen and Long look worse than that.
Thankfully, it looks like we hit it big on lower picks like Fuller and Edwards, and FAs like Williams. Jury is still out on the guys from this year.
Fuller is really an anomaly. The fact that he jumped to the top of the line and is a starter is really unusual with the way the Rams have been drafting and developing players.
Generally, they are drafting for needs at least one year early. Several of the players on your list will likely be starters in 2021.
Rapp - Probably plugged in when JJ leaves
Long - Probably plugged in when Hill leaves
Noteboom - maybe but depends on what Whit does
Also, it's not unusual for 3rd and 4th round picks to just be depth. And I think that's what we have in Evans, Gaines, and Allen. I disagree with the JAGS label simply b/c someone is not starting.
The remarkable thing with the Rams drafting is that nearly 100% of their recent years picks are still with the team. That is HIGHLY unusual.
