I think what McVay has learned is that coming out of the gates strong doesn't necessarily mean continuous wins. Rather, the development of the team as the year goes along is what is critical as it relates to post season play. They aren't going 16-0. Early season losses are better than late season losses.
Putting up with learning curves on young/new players, and revamped/new systems and coaches, will necessarily be part of developing the team. But...... coming together as a cohesive unit with a common goal is imperative, and I couldn't agree more that the Bills' game probably did that for the Rams..... maybe for the Bills as well.
The Rams are likely to get better as the year goes along, even though they're already good. It is the D that has the biggest potential for improvement that includes probably getting Robinson back in the last third of the season, and perhaps getting Lewis on board.....although I think Robinson will make a far bigger impact than the rookie Lewis. It can't be underestimated how much a completely new system and DC matters for the better and the worse.
I believe the Rams need to be in the market for a competent/solid vet rush OLB. Floyd is good. We are not doing well on the other side. I don't know who might be available at an affordable price; but my hunch is that Snead is out there looking right now and if things don't improve on the side opposite Floyd he might pull the trigger.
If the Matthews connection isn't broken, and he wants to play a few games this year for a reasonable price, he ought be considered. He played well last year rushing the passer. And he's the kind of guy that, because of age, could be used situationally.
