We are top heavy, no question. But also the landscape is ever-moving. Goff's AAV is now tied for 5th in the NFL among QBs and in a year will probably be 7th when other contracts get done.
Ramsey and Kupp's extensions start in 2021 but does Donald's overlap with them past 2022? There is a lot of flexibility with him come 2023. Extend him and reduce his 2023 number? Who knows. Havenstein is very much year to year. Whitworth has to be pretty doubtful to stay in 2021 ($5.33M cap savings).
It was always aspirational (including on my part) that the Rams would keep Ramsey, Kupp
and Johnson. I really like Johnson. But in the long run keeping 2 out of 3 is good and ideally they have drafted two quality safeties in this Draft while also continuing to net compensatory draft picks.
And the Draft....that's the thing. You can have 4-5 big salaries at the top IF you continue to draft well.
