Do we take a chance? Can we afford him? He's gotta be better than what we have, right?
As a one-year lease, I def think that we ought to take a look at him. Here's how I see things:
1) I'm still not convinced that our O-line is where it needs to be. Like last year, I expect our RB's to get hit a lot in the backfield and Fournette has shown that he can take the punishment.
2) I don't think that Goff is the type of QB to perform well under the pressure of defenses not respecting the run. This Ram offense NEEDS balance.
3) Malcolm Brown is a solid backup RB. But in that backup role over the past couple of seasons, he's gotten hurt. I don't see why that's gonna change with him expected to get more PT.
4) Henderson appears to have injury issues as well.
5) Cam Akers is a nice prospect, but I'm concerned with what I've read about ball security. I don't want to rush him.
6) As for Fournette and attitude issues...I'm wondering if it was the Jags' former GM who had the attitude issues. Something happened over that caused Ramsey (an elite player) to want to leave. The DE they just traded to the Vikings (a solid player) apparently left money on the table to get out of there. And now Fournette is waived. I wouldn't have traded for him either suspecting that he'd be released). There are problems in that organization that are lingering since Coughlin's departure and I think many of the players have wanted out.
7) Don't want Fournette to go to Seattle.
