First I started with traditional rep. She offered $7 off a month for 6 months for Showtime. Lame.

so I know to go directly to retentions..... lately, when I have been sent to retentions they seem ready for me. They "pull up" a list of discount sthey have been pre-approved to offer. Sometimes they are pretty good, but the last few years I have never been offered free Sunday Ticket and retentions often says we don't handle Sunday Ticket. They offered $35 off my bill for 12 months. After about 20 minutes of negotiating back and forth the women said she could actually disconnect my service and give me a phone number to reconnect it and then I would qualify for bigger discounts. This was new to me.

I was reluctant so she put me on a conference call with the new "disconnect rep". He said they wouldn't actually disconnect/interupt my service, but the previous rep had to get my OK to disconnect my service and I was now considered a new customer eligible for more discounts.

Anyway, he finally, without negotiating, offered Free Sunday Ticket and $50 off for 12 months which brought my monthly bill for the Extra package, HBO, 4 DVRs and Sunday Ticket to about $100 a month.
