DV was more than a coach. He came into losing organizations and changed the culture. And he also knew talent and was the reason why the Rams improved their talent level.
All true.
And he was a winning coach at UCLA, with the Eagles, Rams, and Chiefs.
My only regret w/ him is that the retirement. He would have kept it going. Armey wasn't the same drafting without him. Then Martz and Zygmunt shoved Armey out of the circle and it got even worse.
yep.
I regretted the retirement as well. But, I can't blame him. He put a lot of time and sweat into a great career. He finally reached the top of the mountain.
A bigger regret is that he didn't come back and coach the Rams 10 years earlier.
Long time Rams fans know what DV meant to our team. He is the best we've had, if only for a brief moment in time.
We can only hope that McVay is the next great one.
