Made me think of a few things...
I became a Rams fan in 1966, although I was smitten by the horns a few years earlier when a kid wore a Rams helmet at a pickup game I played in grammar school. I saw the white horns and thought that was the coolest helmet I ever saw as a 10 year old.
Funny thing is, when they switched to the blue and yellow in 1973, I didn’t complain one bit. I think it had something to do with them losing the previous 3 years. The new uniforms came with a renewed winning culture. And I was onboard. I guess winning solves a lot of issues.
What I remember most about the 70’s is always coming close only to be disappointed in the playoffs. It was either bad luck or not having a quality QB. All we really needed was a gut like Bob Griese. Just an accurate clutch guy to compliment our great D.
It’s nostalgic to be back in LA, glad I’m still around to witness it. We have some great memories, but many are bittersweet. Maybe the new uniforms and venue will usher in a wave of success. I have faith in our young coach more than anything.
