With a day off from work last week and absolutely nothing to, my daughter and I decided to travel down to Inglewood to check out the exterior of the stadium for ourselves and potential traffic issues for getting into (and out of) the area.
The first thing that came to my mind when seeing the stadium in person was just the sheer scale of the project. It's MASSIVE - and as everyone knows...the stadium is merely the center-piece. But there's a lot growth potential on the property. There figures to be a ton of on-site parking available where Stan will be able to charge up to $500 for certain elite spots. I heard this from one of the security guards who denied us entry when we tried to caravan with some other supply trucks heading into one of the entrances to get a closer look at things.
And you mentioned the landscaping...yeah, that caught our attention too. In each on-site parking lot (I counted 3 massive ones), there are literally hundreds of mature trees (of different varieties) waiting to be planted. This doesn't take into account the trees that are lining the exterior of the site that were/are in the process of being planted. And this is just on the exterior. I've no doubt there's a ton more once you get closer inside.
Prairie Ave. (the main street where the stadium is located) IS in the process of being widened as is portions of Century Blvd. (the main drag most folks will use to get there from LAX). But with no Metrolink, it's gonna be a hard slog to get in and out using either Century or Market. I will likely take Crenshaw. I think not including the metro in this project could ultimately hurt the number of people being able to access the area. Hopefully, it will get added at some point.
I know there are some who are comparing SoFi's progress with that of Allegiant Stadium - but you can't. Although both project involve stadiums, that's where the comparisons stop. Not only the sheer scale, but the amount of planning and 1st class touches that you can just see from the exterior puts SoFi on an entirely different level.
