Political correctness is about control. If you control someone’s words, you control their thoughts. Maybe people want to control the thoughts of others because there is some advantage to it?
Okay. Then let’s have a discussion on the virtues and vices of thought control.
But we don’t get that. An offense is the driver of thought control.
So, someone’s injury should quash free thought? Not in a civilized society. Why? Because civilized societies are in fact civil due to the exchange of those free thoughts.
And what’s even more trouble is the injury can be real or perceived. But, we have to staunch freedom of thinking—free speech—so as not to injure someone, even though some people may take advantage of that forfeiture and fake an injury?
I don’t think that fair or helpful to our common wellbeing.
