I don't think Wolford is particularly good. But I do agree with your post. Bortles never was a good fit for this scheme. WCO even with McVay's love of taking shots deep is at its roots a system that favors high accuracy and quick processing from its QB. High accuracy to maximize RAC by its pass catchers. And quick processing because it's a patient passing game system that is willing to drive the field much the same way a run game does.
Bortles is neither of those things. So yeah I doubt the Rams are in a hurry to move money around for him. And Wolford is a better system fit as a QB2 he just lacks the name recognition.
