The Rams had way too long (2 years) to think about this new design. I used to think that they spent about 20 minutes coming up with the new stuff but now I'm more convinced that they put too much time on it.
When you design a new horn that is supposed to be 3-D, but also is too complicated for some fans to see how it works, you over complicated the matter.
At first, all I seen was a separated horn, the letter C, then I started to see the 3-D aspects of it. Does it make it more acceptable once you start to see it in 3-D?
A little.
The problem is, if you have to train your eyes to see something in a certain way, convince yourself that it somehow looks 3-D to you, if it takes a long time to finally get it, it's way to over complicated. Some fans may never be able to see the 3-D aspect at all.
When the players are running and moving in multiple directions at a fast pace, it's not going to matter if it's a 3-D look or not because your brain isn't going to be able to adjust fast enough on the fly to be able to see the helmet in 3-D anyway.
The old horn would have worked just fine because it's all a blur at that point anyway. A solid horn makes more sense on a moving object.
Good grief, I can't believe it's come down to this.....
