Austin Corbett--1st Half vs Seattle Week 14

Ok so here is the first half of the Corbett analysis. Choose the Seahawks game--wanted a later in the season game so that he would be more experienced in the system--closer to what we can expect this year.

I not the time, down/distance and field position on every play. Also, there is a grade on plays where he does enough to be graded. This grade is in (x). My scale is a +2 to -2. With half point increments.

Let me know if you want anything changed. Going to eat some food and hope to finish the second half today.

**The scheme is asking Blythe to move block left a DT leveraged to his left--this seems very difficult--realistic?

Rams run a mesh pass concept--with Gurley cleaning the defender for Woods.
Pass--blocked a lineman. Sustained block. But dl got his hands on him first--Corbett recoverd. Shows strength, but puts head down--keeps feet moving. Controlled defender. Good rep.

Duo run left.
Corbett doubled DT w Blythe and misses his second level block(Wright) Tough block but looks slow/tentative.

Pass. Protection slide right. Allows free runner of LT--if LB blitzes Woods is hot, and uncovered. But the route design takes too long and Goff gets killed. The route is an out--covered by the S who drops down into man coverage.

Corbett has no one to block. No grade.

This seems like a bad read by Woods/Goff--he should see the MLB blitzing, leaving the MOF open and cut inside--this would also allow Goff to roll right(w Woods) if he needs to buy time. You know where the free rusher will be coming from and dont give yourself a chance with the time the route takes to develop.

Pass. Fake WR screen to Kupp, CB Griffin completely bites on the fake and Higbee flies by him.

Corbett pass blocks 99. Again, Corbett shows this bad tendency to completely drop his hands and then is late getting his hands up because the starting position is at his thighs. Bad rep. Passive, weak, no control.

Evans and Edwards on the right side did great w their two one v one blocks

Run weak(left). Seahawks gave this to the Rams. Rams had the C, LG, and RT vs a DE, MLB, and S(halfway in the end zone).

Corbett helped w initial double team on the end and maintained backside protection. Fine.

Run left. Duo concept hybrid? Corbett initially doubles DE, then peels for lb. DE is pancaked and Corbett hits his 2nd level block. Good rep.

Play blown up by Blythe not being able to handle the DT with leverage on him. McVay really is putting Blythe is a tough position here. Bythe is able to get position on the DT but the DT has more momentum and is lower driving him back. This is situation where Corbett could trap down(he has leverage on the DT) and pull Blythe. Seems more realistic to do it that way.

Corbett does a fine job pass protecting on the move. Show good strength and sustain. Gives no ground.

Edwards really bad rep. Good initial engage, but lost his balance. Feet just stuck in cement. Ugly.

Goff looks really good. His accuracy is excellent at times.

Corbett skips DL to get 2nd level but doesnt find anyone to block. Looks mobile enough no guard making a 2nd level block here. No grade.

Run duo.
Corbett 1v1 DT. Bad rep. Zero movement and no sustain. The SEA DT just read the play and threw Corbett off when he wanted. Worst rep I've seen so far.

Outside Zone run.
Corbett straight to second level--makes an effective block on Wright. Washes him out of the hole. Good rep.

Duo to the right.
Corbett has a 1v1 block on the backside. Good rep. Got some push, won a hand fight.

Simple play. Double team on the DT. No grade.

Blocked DT. Quick throw. Fine rep--but DT was playing run all the way. No grade.

Initial double on NT then peels to wall off blitzing MLB. Great rep.

Man, Woods just kills Griffin off the line here. Griffin has outside leverage, Woods runs a diamond release(steps inside, then bursts out) and Griffin completely flips his hips so now he has to turn completely around to run with Woods to the outside. Masterclass release.

Whit just mauling Clowney. Funny to watch.

Love this play. Its the opposite of playaction--pass action? draw? Rams make it look like a pass than run. Expecting the Seahawks to get depth in coverage.

Corbetts man stunted away from him but Corbett maintain contact and controlled him. Good rep.

Pass. They tried to hit the fake Wr screen again. Seattle switched coverage and the LB took Woods on the Screen, and Griffin stay back to cover Higbee as he went upfield. Goff shouldnt have thrown this ball. He had two other WRs wide open for the first down.

Love this rep. He looks controlled, strong. Gets his hands on the man first and is strong enough to fight off the DLs hand chop. He had help with Whit but Corbett looks good here.

Corbett, uncovered, engages 2nd level-Wagner. Wagner controls Corbett with his hands and Corbett is a non factor. Bad rep but why Bobby is good.

Corbett gets pancaked. Dt gets his hands on him and its over. Looks like he stumbles getting out of his stance and then lost his balance. Bad rep.

Goff with an absolutely beautiful pass on the run. Man, he can be impressive.

Pass. Really ugly play. They fake the dropback then run action--line is passblocking so they are trying to sell pass. Reynolds is crossing over the middle but covered. Woods' route runs him into Reynolds' end point. Mundt in the flat. WTF?

I think McVay was thinking Mundt would carry the OLB with him in the flat opening up Reynolds on the crosser. Seems overly complicated with very little options for Goff.

Corbett helps on the dt. Not much to do here.

Uncovered, helps with DE who is stunting inside. Takes him one v one. Great block. Completely stops the rusher. Gets into his pads and hits him w a hard punch. Nice rep.
