I really doubt Love could ever be anything near what the great Rogers is. Although..... who could be? But the next question (that is really a rhetorical question) is.... with Rogers mentor Love? H-e-double sticks no! He might try to destroy him, but he sure isn't about to groom him as his replacement.
No matter how great he is, you just can't have one guy who thinks he's the QB, coach, and GM for the team.
Plus a guy who is surly and passive aggressive and is a real jerk who makes it clear that if you don't do what he wants he'll wreck the locker room and run the plays he wants regardless what is called.
All in all, it is probably time to let him move on. There's bound to be a club that will give them a couple of 1st round picks for him.
There is no more respected NFL reporter than McGinn. If he says this is what is happening, with no pulled punches, you can bank on it.
Here's the thing about mentoring Love. Rogers was really bothered that Brett Favre refused to mentor or help him in any way, thought it was very unprofessional. Now that he's in exactly the same position he either mentors Love or becomes the ultimate hypocrite for doing exactly what Favre did. My guess is that 1) He WILL mentor Love (his reputation in Wisconsin DOES matter to him) and 2) It will light a fire under Rogers to show everyone what he can still do--no one carries a chip on his shoulder quite like A Aron.
I think this all works out because 1) Love needs time and 2) Aaron at 38 or 39 probably won't be the same guys (although I thought that about Brady too).
