McVay was trying to get Goff a pocket passer the entire part of the early season. He lost the Pittsburgh game because he was in the pocket heaving it and Tampa Bay and San Fran game 1 as well.
Maybe if McVay would have tried that experiment in the preseason, it works. But it was a new facet to Goff’s game that never materialized last year. He was always successful as a play action, roll out QB.
The time for expanding Goff’s game was done by that point. McVay he in win or go home mode.
My point is there was a lot more to that scheme than the point I think you’re trying to make. Which point is that McVay had to keep pressure off a Goff by roll outs and bootlegs. My point is that the Rams under Goff and McVay have not become Marino and Shula.
