I'm hopeful. But I think it's really hard for people to look 4+ months out and know what will or won't happen. People need to keep their eye on the ball and keep doing what's working now and keep it going. Not until May 1 or whatever but until things really show they have subsided. What people do now will reflect in numbers on May 1. What people do in early May will reflect what things are like in late May. Etc.
I get that people are chomping at the bit for some hard end date but there just isn't one. My kids have asked us about summer vacation possibilities in late July or August and the only reasonable answer I can give today is "we'll see where things stand at the beginning of June." I think the same thing holds true for things like NFL and college football. And in the meantime work on antivirals, far more robust testing availability, contact tracing strategies and the like can be refined and expanded.
The idea of some 'grand reopening' or whatever is just so preposterous. I would hope some very tiered loosening of restrictions happens by Memorial Day weekend, and then we go from there.
I also wonder if the NFL's international games are being discussed as I am imaging international travel is going to be one of the last levers returned to normal.
