Just rewatched the 1985 Rams beating the Cowboys in the playoffs with ED running for 248. I total pleasure. There were almost no penalties in the whole game. It had such a nice flow and the Rams played so great. Penalties and too many tv timeouts have really hurt the watch ability of the games. Sure, blow the whistle when the D jumps offsides or the OL tackles a rusher. Drop the flag when there's a flagrant facemask or somebody gets hit way late or out of bounds. Penalize head targeting and out of bounds kickoffs. Stop play for the obvious PI, but, let's call the big ones. Right now, there's a holding call on almost every pass play. There's a yellow flag on nearly every kickoff. Too much stoppage not enough game flow.
