How many games in recent years have we seen a dozen play stoppages to look at a replay....Coach's challenge etc etc..... and the Refs STILL determine the outcome of a game???
I challenge any of you to watch 2-3 COMPLETE games on Youtube from the 70s or 80s and watch how fluid the game moves. You might see a really bad call here and there. But even with replay, these days, we see games with MULTIPLE crap calls.
It's easy to blame Refs but I blame the NFL. The NFL has added 3,979,637 new rules in the past 10 years alone.
One of my favorite examples of letting them play is our own Rams. Watch SB 14.... There's a play where Wendell Tyler gets slammed WAY outta bounds. I recall the announcer making a brief comment and then the game went on. THESE DAYS???? It would have been BEAT TO DEATH by "First Take" the next day and THE reason the Rams lost (LOL I blame Rod Perry for clipping his finger nails that morning! LOL)
Also, back in the 70s and 80s, it was nothing to see an entire game with maybe 5-6 penalties TOTAL. We see that on one drive these days.
