That question was asked on the Sports Logo link included in my first post on this Artist's Logo:
What was your thought process on the left-facing orientation? The Eagles and Bengals (secondary) are the only two I can think of with logos that face left. I like how match-ups would look with the ram ready to butt heads with any of these other logos.
While the idea of opposition to the majority of other NFL logos does intrigue me, the orientation was more influenced by the fact that the Rams' logos from 46-69 were left facing. I agree that match up graphics would look great with this orientation. There is also connection to heraldry in which right facing animals were seen as a symbol of cowardice.
Wow. Thanks for that info CL! I did not know that.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
