The key here is running downs versus passing downs. Brown and Henderson both can play all running downs. But can both play on known passing downs? Brown can pass block. Henderson allowed five pressures on 122 pass block snaps in college. Brown has 26 targets in five years. Henderson 80 targets in three years in college.
I see Henderson getting the starters reps. With Brown coming in on third downs unless Henderson proves he can block or the Rams decide to start throwing to their backs on passing downs other than screens.
Brown's role stays the same if Henderson can pass block. But he increases his carry share compared to the Gurley years.
Henderson and Brown will be fine if they get the support Gurley did in 17-18. It's not about the backs. The important variables are the blocking and down and distance situations, and playing w the lead.
