Right now I see tweets of famous people getting it and looking at the replies there's a feel almost like they just got diagnosed with a severe case of cancer or something. And I'm also affected by all that, it's impossible not to get caught up in the hysteria or if you prefer the reaction that many feel is appropriate.
But either way the mortality rate is going to determine how this thing is looked at.
As to when that baseline we can trust will be established, I'd say a few months from now. If the mortality rate stays like it is right now in the US (which today was around 2.5%) then the NFL season will be at risk I think. If it bottoms out in that sub 1% range the way it's viewed will be drastically different and it won't affect the season.
And I don't mean to come across like I know. I'm just of the mind that it's an overreaction. We all have our opinion on that and none of us know of course. Just wanted to point out that the way we're viewing it now isn't necessarily how it will be viewed in September even if it's still around.
