Maybe 20 years ago. If real FA work was done at the combine they're be no need for a start to free agency or FA visits.
It's expense account / booze and food business practices. Pretty out-dated.
All that's being said is that the conference atmosphere is considered one of the reasons the Combine has value.
You don't need strawmen. No one said it was the only way things get done. But yes it is a catalyst.
