as I assumed and albany confirmed, the rams conducted several rounds of surveys and focus groups which imo is pretty typical of branding scenarios. im not sure why you would think that KD just looking at twitter to make such a significant decision. you can say what you want about KD but he strikes me as a sharp guy who has been around the business side of football his whole life via his father. i mean he and kronke were able to put a team in la when no one else could. give him a little credit.

you get the impression that most current Rams fans prefer the Ferragamo's likely because that is your peer group. you and they have shared experiences based on age that color (pun intended) your perception. for example, most people tend to favor the type of music they grew up listening to rather than the pop music of the day (i for one hate the crap my kid listens too). those are the people you talk to. those are the peolpe you asociate with. thos are the people you gravitate to. such tendencies influence the perception of the world around us.

and no..looking around the stands on game day is also flawed. it also provides a biased perception. for the most part the people who go to rams games: 1. live in socal; 2. have the money to go to games; and 3. are dominated by individuals who were fans when they left 20 years ago. the people who favor the blue and white are (not to be morbid) but dying out as they age). nevertheless all of these factors bias the perception of "what the fans want". further, these are not really the rams brass are marketing to. they are marketing to kids who are 5-15 years old so they capture them now and become like long life rams fans. the rest of us old people we be a fan no matter what. are you changing? im not. but dont worry, they will throw us a bone every now and then with the throwbacks.

I'm certainly curious what kind of polling/data research they did. I never saw an online poll or heard about anything going on at the stadium or in the newspaper. As accessible as KD seems to be, you'd think that a more scientific input than Tweets would have been used. Are we sure he's not just going by the perception he gets from whatever general fan interaction he participates in?

I get the distinct impression that they just went with a general feel and will rationalize whatever they came up with. Most current Rams fans, IMO, prefer the Ferragamo's. Many like the Gabriel's. Some have mentioned the Van Brocklin's but not many. From 2000 until now, there really hasn't been a consistent St. Louis uniform to label. They've tinkered and toyed with them so often for so long, all we can really go with is the basic darker blue and actual gold color scheme. Some like that though. But the hierarchy seems clear to me and the Ferragamo's would easily be the most popular.

I really don't see why would think that is akin to a fairy tale? Doesn't one have to just look in the stands on game day and see all the royal blue and yellow to realize what most fans prefer?
