Its all speculation on my part but I have a sense that McVay was disappointed in Waldron. However, he sees Waldron, age 40, having "upside" or capabilities and therefore he keeps him around but in a reduced / different role while he learns.

That could be. We don;t really know --as you indicate when you say this is all speculation.

For example, the entire offense faltered (compared to 2017-18) in 2019--that's run game, passing, qb play, and OL. Yet Kromer remains in place.

And of course the actual coordinator in 2019 was McVay. We have no indications that McVay just passively implemented Kromer/Waldron designed gameplans. Same with SF. Shanahan, like McVay, was his own coordinator--and he too had 2 coaches who were designated run game coordinator and pass game coordinator. Is anyone willing to say that wasn''t Shanahan gameplanning and running his own offense?

For all we know the line out of Ramsland is true--McVay wanted a fresh perspective and also decided not to be his own coordinator anymore.

Besides. IF you are going to blame the 2019 offense on a coach, why is just Waldron's name mentioned? When it involves at least 3---McVay, Waldron, and Kromer. I am not sure why he is the focus.

Truth is, we do not know a lot about this, YET there seems to be this narrative that Waldron was deficient even though, oddly (ie. oddly if it's true he was deficient), McVay kept him. (I acknowledge you have an answer for that, but you probably acknowledge in turn it's not the only possible answer.)

Again--truth is we don;t know, there could be a lot of things going on, and just singling out Waldron is done at the expense of a lot of facts.

And as you know this is just me opinionizing and speculating too. It's just that the little bit we know allows for a lot of different speculations. So I am just throwing mine in..
