I've always been of the belief (Tinfoil hat conspiracy alert!) that the Chargers/Spanos fell on a knife for the NFL so that the Raiders wouldn't have the opportunity to move back to L.A. Which would have been a disaster for the Rams. I suspect the Chargers thought it would turn out better than it has.
Once the Raiders are established in Vegas it will be safe for the Chargers to move back without Mark Davis taking the NFL to court. 5 years sounds about right.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Kroenke enterprises were somehow involved in a new Chargers stadium, possibly a joint venture with the NFL itself providing partial funding.
They chose the sword they fell on....they didn't want the Raiders moving to SoCal on top of the Rams the year before
Would not have been a disaster for Rams at all if the Raiders did.....it's a bit of myth that they are somehow more popular than the Rams in SoCal.
Add that to the Raiders sucking every year, the Rams would still own the town right now.
The Bring Back the Rams Facebook page had over 75,000 followers....the Raider page had like 8000, just about 10% of the Rams page....the Chargers had less than 800 lmao
It would have been much better for Stan if Raiders actually moved here instead.....they would have sold PSL's, unlike the Chargers who can't give them away..
