Its hard to sit here in February and think a 4th round pick is going to do anything to help in the war against the whiners and chickens. And I think not having a first round pick or much in cap space adds to that.
But, with all that being said, Rapp was a second round pick that improved the team immediately. Evans and Edwards were day 3 picks that improved the OL. Kupp and JJ were middle round guys that instantly improved the team. So if the Rams are good and a little lucky they have a chance to get some impact players. They will have at least 4 picks in rounds 2-5. And add to that some decent bargain FAs, and this team (already a 9-7 with severe OL health issues) easily becomes 10-6 or 11-5.
Most of the improvement will come from continuity in the OL. Edwards and Evans being in their 2nd years and hopefully help from the new coaches, combined with McVay having actually faced diversity and adjusting as needed.
The real problems on the OL last year were the tackles being not good. Well Whit had ankle surgery and Havs better be better or he rides pine, so thats a plus already.
That really means that the Rams can focus on the front 7 during FA and the draft.
