Re: McVay is taking a risk, but the Rams FO are home run types

Terrific post, Rock.

Well, I’m very happy, that’s for sure. This McVay guy is one pro-active dude! And I love the way this off-season is unfolding as I had hoped/predicted.

Hire young and aggressive OC to take things off McVay’s plate. Check.
Hire young and aggressive DC to maximize talent already on roster. Check.
DON’T hire old retreads stuck in old thinking for coordinator positions. Check.

The Fassel departure mildly surprised me, but when reflecting on recent ST results I can see the reasoning.

I don’t know diddly about Staley other than the scraps I’ve just read, but I do know that McVay has been thinking about this DC change for quite some time and I know that he could virtually have his pick of the litter among available candidates. Sooooo...

Yeah, we’re gonna be seeing some personnel changes coming. A few asst coaches, maybe. Definitely some player personnel changes. Some due to cap considerations and some due to philosophical scheme considerations.

I predict some bumps and bruises early on in the ‘20 season as this ‘new’ D settles in, but then I predict that this D will become a rather steady Top 5-10 D thereafter.

Don’t you just love having a FO and HC that can and will act swiftly rather than reacting slowly?

Hot Damn!

I think just about ANY move made in the NFL can be a risk.
