they all seem to agree that Brockers is an instant sign to one of our NFC West rivals. They pointed to the Cardinals, but there seem to be joint agreement that Brockers will haunt us wearing another uniform.
That said, Brockers is very popular within the clubhouse. Just see the number of players that joined up around the guy when he was ailing in the endzone area by the tunnel last weekend with that ankle. As Deadpool says, love him as a person, and player, but the price point versus the return are hard to reconcile. Being a DT can be an unenviable spot, too. Your worth could easily go ignored, as colossal men collide in vast piles.
Again, as DP says: I'm not saying they can get someone better than him in the draft immediately, but at the least he'll be much much cheaper"
On Smart we agree. He showed up well enough in his increased snaps earlier in the season. Then vanished.
Gaines seemed to be used just as noted. 2 down type.
Lawler is a bit undersized to take up the interior for me, but Wade did a nice job of moving guys around and finding success.
I have higher marks for Fox. Again, I see him closer to the edge than inside, but a good egg.
IMO, you can never have enough big (fat) guys in your defensive line rotation.
If that's where we go in the second round, I'm okay with it.
Have to keep Clay
We need that veteran presence if we're losing Brockers. AD enjoys autonomy, and Weddle never lived up to the illustrious vet I expected.
Edge stuff does get iffy.
Ogbah would be a fun add.
Carraway never quite did anything for me, and Obo would be an astonishing if he found a way on to the roster.
Polite is signed to a futures deal, and he too, will have to be very earnest to make inroads. What upside, though.
With the OL bearing too much weight for me in the next season, they miss on some fine talent from this draft by having to address the other side of the football.
