I understand what you wrote and can agree to a point. However, the problem is that what I see as a "soft landing" is simply one additional hurdle most -if not all-teams don't have to get over. There will be years of exceptions but to have a reputation-year in and year out- as a tough smash mouth in your face football team isn't going to happen. So Cal is the easiest place on earth to live. Why wouldn't that
eventually cause a player to lose an "edge" ?. And even the slightest of "edges" can collectively impact a team.
Hypo: two games being played. Both bitter fought and close until the end. One team loses and goes back to the snowy confines of Pittsburgh,Green Bay, New England, (you get the point); in the other hard fought game the losing team returns to sunny So Cal where you get over it by laying on the beach, looking at bikinis, and going to a Laker/Clipper game and then a fine restaurant and club-all the time in shorts and sandals driving a convertible. Which of the two losing teams would you prefer to play for ?
Just one man's opinion-not more or less credible than others.
