L.A.Rams
I'm talking about the apparent difference in arm strength. For the first time all year, Goff was throwing the ball on a rope -- like a Marino or Elway. That wasn't the only apparent difference, but the apparent physical difference made me wonder if there had been an undisclosed injury.
I would guess that it's mostly about confidence. I think he was actually limited as much as he was helped by McVay's system and methods. Goff was in a bad spot when McVay arrived in '17. He was already an Air Raid QB having to catch up and then put in situation where he not only played for Jeff Fisher but a lame duck Jeff Fisher.

So, overnight things went from Goff struggling to even be on an NFL field to things seeming easy. There was no learning curve. The Rams took the league by surprise and for a year or so, it was all peaches and cream. Then reality came crashing back down. Since the bye last year, the league figured out how to take away those advantages the Rams were employing to make things look easy.

Since then, we've been seeing Goff fight through the growing pains that QB's usually have to go through. It's like he was a bad student as a freshman, was handed the answers to all of his tests as a sophomore and then had them taken away and had to actually, finally learn how to study.

Yeah as a rookie he was adjusting from being an Air Raid qb, though since Goff others have done that more quickly.

Still. This idea that Goff was given all these training wheel type plays is just nonsense. First, you cannot verify that. You're just asserting it. Second, it ignores Goff's strengths as a player (you do know he has those, right?) AND the fact that the offense was built around and takes advantage of those strengths.

And you honestly ignore the one factor we know all the "off" games have in common--OL collapse and/or subpar OL play. That includes Detroit, Chicago, the Patz, SF, and the Steelers.

Everyone has pet theories and the trick is proving them, not just asserting them repeatedly. So for example it's very easy to correlate OL issues with Goff's worst games. You get that from watching live and then analyzing afterward.

Next, inevitably, I get people telling me about all the things qbs do to make up for broken, collapsed, and subpar OLs, and what usually happens is no one names me any examples of that. They just assert that it exists and do not back it up.

...
You're specifically trying or irony, right? I mean, you're not seriously lecturing anyone ELSE about baseless repetition are you?

And I have offered an example of a QB that didn't drastically decline because of o-line issues, you've just never acknowledged it. But I find it very difficult to believe you would ever agree about another team's o-line issues. You've purposefully qualified your parameters so ambiguously and mercurially that it's impossible to define anything.

No I back things up dude. So don't try ironic reversal on me. And in fact try not to make things personal.

You named A quarterback. (Assuming it holds up.) Well that's precious. One example apparently means that tons of counter-evidence through all NFL history does not exist. Okay.
