Appreciate the thread, and for Merlin weighing in........
They ran plays last night they hadn't during a stretch that included the Steeler match. Jet sweeps, end arounds, naked boots, etc.
Perhaps some of that was making sure they got the basics right with the youngsters before tempting more advanced work
For me, let's just start at the beginning last night.
Our OL comes out and takes the field
Blythe, and company turn and eyeball the Seahawk defense !! Pretty macho. Loved it. Gave them the group stink eye. Really? Bring it !!!
After seeing the game live, came home and watched the game at high speed, without looking for details.
Things to note on the fly?
Blythe might not be as refined in his setting at the line as Allen, but he's doing great.
Why?
Cuz I don't see him. Ha.
TBH, Merlin is probably right. There's better work being done on either side of him and it helps. Still credit to the kid. He's determined, and isn't getting pushed back, Fact is, he seems very good moving forward; Improving every game.
Corbett getting out front, pulling, on an end around is good stuff. Again, might have laid off that play before, but last night we saw McVay go 5 times with it.
Bobby Evans
He's probably isn't perfect, but I do like his progress, and he showed some very nice work against Clowney, and also, when he got it wrong he knew it, knew why, and apologized to his QB instantly. He's got some interesting feet for such a big guy, too. He can jump, and get them sleds wide, and move. Good stuff.
All in all, enjoyable work by these youngsters
