I don’t recall ever seeing anything quite like it.
Literally 4 new players have replaced September starters due to injuries closely bunched together. Two of the newbies are literally rookies not expected to see the field until maybe next year! And now they are not merely ‘adequate’, they have become somewhat impressive. Kudos to Kromer and his assistants.
Ripple effects include a brand new Goff, running game, and a deadly passing attack. Wow!
They have lost 5 players. Saffold and Sullivan, then the 3 injuries this year.
And it's not just 2 rookies. The third guy is an inexperienced mid-season pick-up who was not even in training camp.
On paper, an OL is NOT supposed to look this good with 3 injury replacements and 1 guy shifting positions (that means 4 positions are part of this).
There's really only one explanation. Most teams do not have OL depth like this because most teams that suffer that many OL injuries are not in the process of loading up to rebuild the OL in the next season. They drafted 5 guys in 2 years and traded for a 6th. That was supposed to be the material they were going to use to re-do the 2020 OL. BUT they got called upon half a season early.
