They can say he had a hip pointer (probably did to some degree), but any fan knows he was pulled from the game because he just has not performed well.
The coach having a long talk with him before inserting the back-up QB was about trying to keep his chin up, and about a HC trying to win a game. The thing is, this is a big deal. How do you justify starting Trubisky next week? Maybe even the rest of the year? Benching a starting QB is pretty drastic.
There is NO way the Bears can give Trubisky a big new contract. They're going to have to go out and find themselves another QB (Bortles?).
At the same time, his career shouldn't be over. He's still young and might be able to overcome his disappointing start. But it'll have to be somewhere else at a pretty reduced rate.
