I highly doubt you do either......some players coach may pick, some GM...who knows
.
The Rams are very open about their drafting process, and many members of the organization (coaches, Snead, Demoff) have spoken about it at length through the years...plus at different times reporters have been embedded in the process and allowed to write about it afterwards.
Kromer for example goes to the combine and even the Senior Bowl and has spoken about his draft involvement. We got the same kind of info from Hanifan.
Plus there's the simple fact that no GM is going to force a type of lineman on the OL coach. That would be counter-productive in the extreme.
And the picks are made this way (something we also know in detail): as a group, coaches and personnel people, they stack their board well before the draft as a group. They then stick to the board when they pick.
The GM title does not mean the same thing from team to team. With some teams, the GM is a uber-lord whose vision defines everything. With some teams, the GM is the head coach's personnel guy and does not act unilaterally. With some teams, the GM is a collaborator who works in a collaborative system. That's Snead. And that's according to everything said about the Rams draft process by every coach plus Demoff since 2012--and there's a lot of stuff out there.
