Of scanning to read what you already believe.
The Oline was mentioned twice.
Firstly, how good it was last year and secondly, how tough it is retooling in one offseason.
I think the article was OTT, but it also has some merit.
I've been worried about Goff since the Chicago game.
Really good QB's transcend an Oline and he can't do that, he looks scared much of the time.
If Goff played for the Seahawks I imagine you'd be pumped they just mortgaged their future to him.
I had a long chat with a friend who is a 9er fan on Tuesday and we both worry about our QBs being able to drag our team to the next level.
I said it at the time, I think we made a huge mistake giving up so much for Ramsey, because if Goff is to be close to worth what we have paid him he needs a great Oline and a dynamic running game - we have neither at the moment.
They never mentioned how atrocious they have been or the fact they are the 32nd ranked Oline in the NFL. Just cuz they said something about retooling the Oline doesn't exactly point to how maybe that is the real issue. They seem to think we can find any QB that can perform behind what we have right now.
That's the thing, pocket QB's need an o-line, running QB's can survive behind bad ones, but running QB's don't seem to last long, RW is the exception not the rule.
Rams made a huge mistake overvaluing the interior linemen.... they've been a disaster to say the least and the injuries just make it worse.
Tom Brady himself would not make this o-line look much better and he has like 20 years experience.
The premise of the article misses the larger issue when it tries to pin most of this on Goff.
Goff was a two time Pro Bowl QB of the most prolific offense in the NFL from 2017-2018 and took the team to a Super Bowl..... the Rams simply paid him the going rate.
This offense is based off play action and protection....and right now there is no threat at RB and the protection is very shaky to say the least...Goff is bearing the brunt of it.
Wait til the next top QB gets paid.....it's gonna make Goff look like a bargain.
IMO, I think the future of the NFL is going to be the disposable running QB and hope to get 5 years out of him with the way the o-lines look these days.
