what season was it? When Gurley just was NOT Gurley? And this board, and others, were "Gurley ain't what he was hoped to be"...
I was part of that, so was most of this board.... only to find out... NO, he was still Gurley, and proved it.
I think that 'most' likely about this year more than all the other reasons I'm hearing for this subpar year. I keep reading "no burst", (or similar phraseology), and no... I do NOT see it... except... when he 'reads' the play as dead (which it isn't, always), and he quits... but he's done that since day one IMHO.
To summarize.. he may not be at his finest, (I would tend to agree with that), but he's still an elite RB and talent. Due to circumstances... circumstances I can't explain but don't think it's entirely lack of talent... he's been relegated to mostly a back-up role. And as such.... I can't definitely assess Gurley based on back-up role stats. Gurley, seems to me, was ALWAYS a 'big play RB'.. meaning he'd struggle, struggle, struggle, then suddenly break the huge play.... no chance this year with the fewer touches to do that. - JamesJM
