When you juggle, you're robbing Peter to pay Paul. And managing the salary cap is a juggling act.
I agree on Reynolds; he's not Woods. But I'm not certain the offense would be set back and definitely don't believe it means they aren't looking to contend this year because they could compensate elsewhere.
For example, Everett is already emerging. They could lean on him a little bit more.
I think we have to consider this: how is it that the Pats can trade great players and never miss a beat? It's not all Tom Brady. It's probably more Bellichek.

McVay says Reynolds is near starter quality. Is that true or not?
