Atlantic Ram
Maybe they were expecting wide open receivers like the previous Rams' opponents enjoyed. Would they have game planned differently?
I guess this is another reaction to a jump to conclusion post. Hard for me to not take the "wait and see" approach.
That said, they looked like a top 5 D out there.
Here's a question... Why even bring in a Marcus Peters if he doesn't fit your scheme? Not that he wasn't solid but I read somewhere that the Rams were trading Peters regardless of acquiring Ramsey. So kind of a failed experiment if so... Seems like someone would know that he wasn't a fit... I mean it took Wade weeks to figure it out, per Wade.
Good question about acquiring Peters, Atlantic. A lot of us are wondering, ourselves.
As to game planning against this “new” Ram D? Good luck with that. Running man coverage well enables Wade to unleash his front 7 to a much greater degree. And there is some serious talent in that front 7 these days, plus Matthews conceivably might be back after the bye. Opposing QB’s struggle when you give them less time to look while simultaneously requiring them to wait half second more for someone to get open.i don’t know how one schemes against that twofer, frankly.
Matt Ryan and the Falcons were Exhibit A. A seasoned QB with 6 consecutive 300+ yard games was stymied, suffered 5 sacks, and was ultimately injured and had to leave the game. And that was Ramsey’s FIRST start as a Ram after only maybe 3 “practices”, while missing Matthews, Talib, and JJ.
This “new” Ram D has the potential to be a very good one. I mean, Wade’s man coverage version looks pretty darned POTENT so far, and you know that they’re only getting warmed up. Lol.
