Deadpool
is moving on from Peters. He is exactly what everyone knew he was, a headcase with no interest in tackling and gambling, leaving busted coverages all over the place.
For all you fans of Mark Barron, I have great news for you, because Kenny Young lacks instincts and isn't very physical. The only good news is that he will only be on the field 30% of the time...
As far as Corbett, he was a overdrafted by 2 rounds. Guy was a 4th round prospect IMO and as stated in my draft prep stuff, he was steady at Nevada. He didn't have 1 trait that stuck out to me. His lack of play strength was my biggest concern. he seemed smart, but smarts only make up for so much. And since he can't break into the starting lineup on a Cleveland team that has almost killed a mobile Mayfield, all I have to say is good luck Goff.
That leaves Jalen Ramsey. Great player, elite even. But a serious headcase. And I am not sure how much he moves the needle. No Talib on the other side and Peters was good enough to hold down the fort. Let me put it another way, CB wasn't the Rams biggest problem on the defense let alone the team. Which brings me to:
The offensive line. There is no real way of getting it fixed in Free Agency. No money for FAs and no one that really moves the needle IMO. So that leaves the draft, and the best interior OL will be gone in the 1st and then its kinda a crap shoot (right now). Thats fine, because there are some 2nd to 4th round guys I like that could help the Rams. The problem I have, is with a lack of 2 1sts, how are you really going to rebuild the offensive and defensive lines. IMO good teams build from the inside out and the Rams seemingly are doing the opposite.
Which leaves me to why I haven't liked much or anything today: Your highest paid players are Goff, Gurley and Donald, and you are leaving them hanging out to dry.
Great post Deadpool. For a team that has trouble scoring against elite defenses, this move makes little sense. The fact we trade for another lineman, doesnt give anyone a warm fuzzy feeling about our depth. Considering our left tackle is an ageless wonder and his replacement just tore his acl. Not real reassuring. I remember hearing all this hype about Peters as well. This trades gets us no closer to the 49ers.
