I rewatched the highlights of the Bucs game and was shocked at how impressed I was with Goff. I mean, with 500 yards passing there were some serious dimes he was dropping. The pass to Woods on the sideline when he tip toed to stay in bounds and get 20 more YAC was all world.
And I agree that mentally he is one of the best. And that will pay dividends over time.
BUT, IMO Goff has only one throw. The high velocity, slightly arcing pass. It works best for passes between 8 and 25 yards.
I'll give him he deep ball too, but only the bomb...
Because what he doesn't have is touch. For when the running back swings out and then up. Or any play where the receiver is on a streak....because you need to put more air under it. (Like the ridiculous pass Wilson made to his TE). No way Goff makes that throw. Even if the guy wasn't covered you have to drop in it from up top.
And this why our guy often misses the wide open guy. When a guy is wide open you just throw him a nice touch pass.
