Power rankings are fun. No one in their right mind assumes they measure anything objective. So telling people they don;t is like telling trick or treaters that ghosts are not real. Yeah we know.
What power rankings tell you is how your team is perceived. The impression they make on the sports media world.
And they aren't just "random." These are informed observers talking about the game they follow professionally. That doesn't make them right, but it does make it far more solid than just "random opinions."
