I think a drop kick works like a FG try so if it goes through the uprights you get 3 points. If you miss the opponent would get them ball from the spot of the kick. A punt is also live but doesn't need to go anywhere particular and becomes live after the opportunity touches the ball like on a muff. Also, I don't know if current NFL players practice drop kicks when the FG kickers are hitting bombs of 60 yards.
