Who said he sucks(he wasn't good in Carolina, just a fact). I love JG, Think he has the ability to be very good, maybe even elite, but when he looks average , he looks average . I think I may have even said he looked rusty, he missed throws he can make in his sleep.
The fact the Oline looked good Sunday against a though front makes me think he and TG/Brown can do serious damage against teams going forward.
A win is a win though and the Rams will not throw any of them back because they lacked style points.
not saying you are, but there is a huge thread right now discussing how he is on a downward spiral with a chart showing how bad he is.....there is plenty who pretty much still aren't sold on him....even though McVay, Snead and Kronke clearly are, he has the best record in NFL since 2017 and keeps showing up in the top 10 in just about every relevant QB stat 2 years in a row.... but he's trending the wrong way so there is something wrong with him all the sudden
... "trended" the wrong way. Not even one exception to the downward "trend." So there's also THAT..
Brees’ QB rating declined from 115.7 in the regular season to 95.6 in playoffs last year (-20.1)
Luck: from 98.7 to 83.3. (-15.4)
Wilson: 110.9 to 105.9 (-5.0)
Foles: 96.0 to 70.6 (-25.4)
Rivers: 105.5 to 80.9 (-24.6)
Brady: 97.7 to 85.8 (-11.9)
Prescott: 96.9 to 91.3 (-5.6)
Mahomes: 113.8 to 98.9 (-14.9)
Watson: 1-3.1 to 69.7 (-33.4)
Jackson: 84.5 to 78.8 (-5.7)
Trubisky: 95.4 to 89.6 (-5.8)
You have the "trend" wrong.
These are the facts. It's not that Goff just trended down after the bye. It's that the down trend included several below average games.
In 5 of those games he has an avg. qb rating of 59.2 (where any qb rating below 80 is at least below avg. or bad depending on how low it is) and also in those games he threw 1 TD and 7 INTs.
Now you can try and find all sorts of ways to act like that's good, or didn't happen, but, Goff himself doesn;t think that's good and he is responding to it as someone with character who KNOWS it happened.
5 out of 8 games like that means he hit a stretch where he is inconsistent.
That should not be surprising since it's a common thing for good qbs to have been inconsistent in their 3rd year.
But...how many of the qbs you listed had something like 5 of 8 below avg. games at the end of the season like that? Or anything like it? Maybe a couple did.
Oh and to deflect a certain kind of response in advance, no we did not forget about the good games (which is why we say he was inconsistent) and no this does not mean that we're saying he's not a good qb, or any of that.
It means the FACTS say he was inconsistent down the stretch and while we believe he can come out of it, that does not mean it did not happen or that there's any real point in denying it did.
