I firmly believe Goff will continue to get better as a QB. And he has to if the Rams are going to reach the pinnacle.
But as I believe it was JamesJM put it, it might be two steps forward, one step backwards.
I've said in past posts that it is unrealistic and unnatural to expect a steady, linear progression from game to game.
He's trying to change this year. Both he and McVay are trying to change some of what they do, as a reaction to the Superbowl and what defenses are doing.
When you try to make a change, you have to think again, instead of just doing what has become ingrained into you.
That could be a part of what was going on last Sunday. Too much thinking.
"When they drop into this zone coverage, and that safety runs to that area, I'm supposed to have a receiver open in this spot right over here."
I'm not sure we've seen just one rusty game. This could be a rough start to the season. Hate to say it, but it may be.
Just a reminder though, I've seen good QB's have entire seasons that were below par for them. Entire seasons that they had to bounce back from the next year. I'm not predicting that. I'm just saying.
Ramily!
