Thats a good question.
In retrospect, it sure looks like a bad decision. Certainly, the Rams wish they had the pick to do all over.
But at the time is was a gamble that the Fisher and Snead decided was worth taking because his upside appeared to be through the roof. Even Daniel Jeremiah called GRob the most likely guy in the 2014 draft to be in the HOF. So it wasn't a total pipe dream.
Bottom line, GRob turned out to be a bust. It happens, it wasn't fatal obviously. The Rams recovered by landing Whitworth. And they did get the greatest DT of this generation in the same round. If that draft is a total do over, we don't draft GRob, but we also don't get Donald cause he is going #1 overall. So we did just fine.
