Yup.
Still, curious move to expose your LOT.
That doesn’t happen to quality players at that position.
He wasn't exposed though.
He's a vested veteran so that wasn't waivers. For someone else to sign him, he would have to want to go along with it. So odds are, he was in on this all along. He knew he was going to be cut temporarily and re-signed.
Why him?
Chances are he's the only multi-million dollar contract that's a one-year. So they clear what they have to clear and re-sign him and no other consequences.
Point here is that if he were a quality LOT someone would offer him big money. He’s not so he took a pay cut. My take is he’s a JAG at best and a penalty machine at worst.
Bottomline is GRob was a bust, especially at #2 overall. Lots of debate over whether it was a foreseeable mistake; there were draft analysts on both sides so it wasn’t clearly a bad decision at the time. My view was it was a swing for the HOF with legit risk due to inexperience. Before the draft Ross Tucker basically said the same thing, he thought GRob had freakish talent but saw risk of being penalty machine.
Oh I don't care about that. It's old news that doesn't have much meaning to me.
There are actual busts from that draft who are out of the league. He was a reach not a bust. And jags don't play LOT in the NFL. He;s just not a top LOT, though, I think there might be fewer top LOTs in NFL drafts than franchise quarterbacks. Hard position to find.
Not one of the top 5 picks from 2014 are playing with their original team.
Rams got Donald so my lost sleep factor on this rings in at zero.
...
I’m not emotional about this at all, just stating the way I see it.
Still, I disagree with everything you said regarding GRob excluding not losing sleep over the pick.
I think GR is the best tackle the Rams have taken in the first round since Jason Smith.
He;s not a bust Max. Busts aren't starters. They're not even mediocre starters.
Who plays LOT for Miami now? There's an adventure.
